Colorado’s Teacher Perception Survey

Colorado’s Teacher Perception Survey

The purpose of Colorado’s Teacher Perception Survey is to:

  • Provide principals with meaningful feedback about how they impact teacher practice and student learning.
  • Use teacher voice and experience in a meaningful way that informs principal professional growth and ultimately improves school leadership.
  • Serve as an optional additional measure of principal effectiveness in accordance with S.B. 191.

Colorado’s surveys are being developed by the Colorado Legacy Foundation and piloted in diverse districts across the state during the 2012-13 school year. If demonstrated to be a valid and reliable means of collecting evidence about principal performance, the Colorado Department of Education plans to offer the surveys to districts that may voluntarily choose to use them to evaluate and support principals.

Following is information that will help districts become familiar with Colorado’s teacher perception survey, how it was developed, and how it may be used as one component of a comprehensive evaluation system.

The pilot process for this instrument is still underway. Once complete we will share results to demonstrate that the instrument is fair, valid and reliable. Please contact us for permission to use this instrument. If this instrument is changed or modified in any way we cannot make any representations about its validity.
