Legacy Summit & Luncheon 2009
Healthy Kids Learn Better! Legacy Summit
The Healthy Kids Learn Better! Legacy Summit signaled the kick-off of the Colorado Legacy Foundation’s multi-year commitment to partner with school district administration from across the state to support policy action for improving students’ health and wellness. The Summit convened administrative-level leaders through Health Action Teams (e.g., superintendent, school board member, food service director and physical education coordinator). Other champions of school health and wellness were
also encouraged to attend, including community organizations, foundations,
and parent groups.
The Summit aimed to provide districts with the tools and resources they need to address the health and wellness issues most important to them. Through a series of workshops and small group discussions, the Summit focused on the “how-to’s” in making policy changes across a wide variety of issues. The Summit also helped inform the Legacy Foundation’s work to support schools in the future by learning more about districts’ interests, major barriers and primary opportunities so that future regional or state-wide trainings address districts’ unique needs.
