Educator Effectiveness

Research shows that one of the most important influences in children’s academic success is their teacher. In fact, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 includes a national competition among states for more than $4 billion in Race to the Top funds to improve the quality of education – including educator effectiveness.

The Colorado Legacy Foundation supports teacher quality, leadership development and pay-for-performance. As part of the foundation’s new statewide teacher quality initiative, we are convening experts and stakeholders to develop a comprehensive plan to enhance teacher quality and advise the state’s bid for Race to the Top funds. Our national white paper on educator effectiveness addresses how today’s classrooms reflect the capacity of the adults.

The Colorado Legacy Foundation also is working to improve the quality of Colorado’s teacher preparation, recruitment, retention and tracking thanks to a generous multi-year grant from the Rose Community Foundation.
