Excellence in educator effectiveness will be theme when the Colorado Legacy Foundation holds its annual fundraising luncheon event on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011 in downtown Denver.

The Colorado Legacy Foundation luncheon is attended by as many as 700 individuals from across Colorado representing educators, policy makers, foundations, business and community leaders from across the state. This year’s event will be a celebration of excellence in educator effectiveness practices throughout our state.”

The focus of this year’s awards will be teacher and school leader effectiveness. The awards will recognize and celebrate effective teachers and school leaders—in addition to their practices and leadership—across the state of Colorado.

“We are extremely excited about this year’s program and the opportunity to recognize the teachers and administrative leaders who are raising the bar on this important issue,” said Helayne Jones, executive director of the Colorado Legacy Foundation.

The luncheon will be held at the Seawall Ballroom at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. Registration information will be available soon. The keynote speaker will be Sir Ken Robinson, an internationally recognized leader in the development of creativity and innovation who has worked with governments, Fortune 500 companies and international agencies. He speaks to audiences throughout the world on the creative challenges facing business and education in the new global economies. His latest book, “The Element: How Finding Your Passion Changes Everything,” was a New York Times best seller and is being translated into eight different languages.

Sir Ken Robinson is passionate about creativity and innovation as an inspiration for redefining the education model. Jones added, “We are delighted that he will share his message with us and hope that he will also become an inspiration for school communities across Colorado looking to use innovation and creativity to improve the quality of education offered in our public schools.”

The Colorado Legacy Foundation has a history of highlighting success and providing a catalyst for the implementation of best practices statewide. The purpose is to inspire, identify and rapidly disseminate key initiatives by the Colorado Department of Education. The Legacy Foundation believes that many Colorado K-12 students deserve better outcomes from their public school experience and that it is time to celebrate the success of educators statewide who prove every day the art of the possible and support them in continuing their work and sharing it with others.
